It has been 34 years since Blade Runner’s dark and desolate 2019 Los Angeles hit cinemas.
Now the first footage for its sequel, set in – you guessed it – 2049, has finally arrived.
The trailer begins with Gosling’s K walking behind a futuristic street cleaner in a dirty alley way as a recording of Ford as Deckard from the original movie plays over the top.

Fans of the cult original will know the job Deckard means is that of a blade runner: a police officer who is tasked with hunting down replicants, robots who are visually indistinguishable from adult humans.
A lot has clearly changed in the last three decades, as is revealed in the official plot details below.
The synopsis reads: “Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos.
“K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.”
